Bourbonnais Police pass the torch June 15

Bourbonnais, IL – The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Illinois will make its way through Kankakee County on Wednesday, June 15. Police officers throughout the county will be participating in the intrastate relay. Bourbonnais Police will be passed the Flame of Hope and begin their role as “Guardians of the Flame” – this year’s theme of the run – starting around 1:00 p.m. from 9000N Road in Manteno and heading southbound on N. Convent St. (Route 45) in Bourbonnais.

Free admission for the community

Bourbonnais, IL – The Village of Bourbonnais released its “Sizzlin’ Summer 2022” June schedule of events. The lineup includes community favorites such as Yoga in the Park, Movies in the Park and the unofficial kick off to summer with the 47th year of the Bourbonnais Friendship Festival. All events are free for the public and registration is not required.

Sztuba completes School of Police Staff & Command

Bourbonnais, IL — The Bourbonnais Police Department is pleased to announce the recent graduation of Sergeant Jason Sztuba from the School of Police Staff and Command (SPSC) at Northwestern University. Sergeant Sztuba successfully completed the ten-week, 400-hour Police Staff and Command program January 3 - May 6, 2022. He graduated in SPSC Class #514 which included a total of 33 students.

Earth Day event April 22 - May 20

Bourbonnais, IL – The Village of Bourbonnais announces its first Community Cleanup Contest. Sponsored by Tholens’ Landscape & Garden Center and Aqua Illinois, the Earth Day-related event encourages residents of all ages to participate in or plan a cleanup project or activity within the Village of Bourbonnais.

Projects or activities may take place beginning on Earth Day, April 22, through May 20, 2022. Free outdoor recreational amenity available

Bourbonnais, IL – The Village of Bourbonnais and Bourbonnais Township Park District announce the seasonal skate equipment has returned to the outdoor park located behind the Village of Bourbonnais Administration Office at 600 Main Street NW. The recreational space is a collaborative effort between both organizations and provides a safe location for the community to skate. Park hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. or dusk, whichever comes first. Safety guidelines are posted and will be enforced.

Joint egg hunt returns to Bourbonnais

Bourbonnais, IL – Saturday, April 9, 2022, the Village of Bourbonnais and Bourbonnais Township Park District will spring ahead with the return of a joint egg hunt at 10 a.m. Both organizations will partner to host an Easter Eggstravaganza along the trails of Perry Farm Park at 459 North Kennedy Drive in Bourbonnais. The free event for the public is open to ages ten and under. Participants are reminded to bring a basket or bag for the egg hunt. Five starting points will be included for trail access with entrances at Coyne Street, Bisaillon Avenue, Cavalier de LaSalle Park and the Exploration Station in Bourbonnais as well as Valley Avenue in Bradley.

Bourbonnais, IL – Hundreds gathered for the recent unveiling of the Village of Bourbonnais Community Campus final design, a result of thousands of participants who helped “Imagine Bourbonnais” during a year-long engagement process led by The Lakota Group, an urban planning and landscape architecture consulting firm the village commissioned to lead the project. For those who were unable to attend the Business After Hours event on Thursday, February 24th, the village invites the community to view the designs in-person throughout the month of March during business hours, Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., in the Bourbonnais Police Department lobby at 700 Main Street NW. Additionally, all images are available for online viewing at villageofbourbonnais.com.

Five-year run breaks record

Bourbonnais, IL – After a year hiatus, the Village of Bourbonnais and Bourbonnais Township Park District, in conjunction with title sponsor, Sweet Street, welcomed the sold-out Chocolate Tour on Saturday, February 5, 2022. 350 participants explored Village of Bourbonnais businesses while indulging in sweet treats at each location. Those who completed 36 business stops were eligible to enter a grand prize and runner-up grand prize drawing. Congratulations to Barb Staniszeski, Kankakee, who won the grand prize – a 14k rose gold white and chocolate diamond ring - courtesy of Andaul Jewelers. Congratulations to Jerry Forbes, Manteno, who won the runner-up grand prize - a 43” 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV - provided by the Bourbonnais Friendship Festival.

Bourbonnais partners with the Kankakee County Chamber of Commerce

Bourbonnais, IL – The Village of Bourbonnais is pleased to present the Community Campus final design debut and future of Bourbonnais Thursday, February 24, 2022. From 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., the public is invited and encouraged to attend the unveiling at the Kankakee County Chamber of Commerce’s Business After Hours, hosted by the Village of Bourbonnais, at the BrickStone Brewery Production Facility, 572 Brewery Lane, in Bourbonnais. No registration is required. All ages are welcome.

Free outdoor amenity ready for use

Bourbonnais, IL – The Village of Bourbonnais and Bourbonnais Township Park District are pleased to announce the Event and Skate Plaza located at 600 Main Street NW, behind the Village of Bourbonnais Administration Office, is now available to the public for ice skating (weather-permitting). The outdoor frozen rink is a free recreational activity provided to the community during the winter months. Skating may take place during the hours of 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. or dusk (whichever comes first).
