Streetscape Improvement Plan Progresses

Bourbonnais, IL – The Village of Bourbonnais welcomes community participation in the Northern Gateway Streetscape Public Workshop. The Northern Gateway Streetscape Plan includes areas along Bourbonnais Parkway, North Convent Street and West Burns Road. The goals of the improvement plan are to create a cohesive design reflecting the positive attributes of the village, increase pedestrian connectivity and stimulate economic development. Join Village of Bourbonnais officials for a public workshop September 1st between 5:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room downstairs at the Bourbonnais Municipal Center 700 Main Street NW.

Donations welcome for Special Olympics Illinois

Bourbonnais, IL — As a part of their annual fundraising efforts for the Law Enforcement Torch Run and Special Olympics Illinois, the Bourbonnais Police Department will be participating in Coffee for Champions Friday, August 20, 2021. From 5 a.m. to 2 p.m., officers will be joined by the Kankakee County Sheriff’s Office and Illinois State Police at both Bourbonnais Dunkin’ locations – 112 East Bethel Drive and 5916 North Convent Street (inside Gas N Wash) at Bourbonnais Parkway. The community is invited to stop by and support the initiative which benefits Special Olympics Illinois athletes. All donations receive a free donut coupon.

Community equity welcomed in Bourbonnais

Bourbonnais, IL – The United Way of Kankakee & Iroquois Counties ended its recent 21-week Equity Challenge with the unveiling of the Community Equity Mural Design Contest winner. Allison Freytes, of Kankakee, and her original artwork, “We are Stronger Together” received 64.5 percent of public votes. Runners up included Paul Laue, of Kankakee, and his submission “We All Live Here Together, “and Trenna VanVleck, of Bourbonnais, with “Different People, Same Heart.” 107 community votes were placed via Facebook for the three-day contest.

Free event part of outdoor summer series

Bourbonnais, IL – The Village of Bourbonnais presents Yoga in the Park Saturday, July 31st from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. in Goselin Park located behind the Bourbonnais Municipal Center at 700 Main Street NW. The Sunrise Yoga & Summer Vibes session will feature Olive Branch Yoga studio and a slow-geared vinyasa flow recommended for all skill levels ages 13 and older.

Outdoor event July 23rd

Bourbonnais, IL – The Village of Bourbonnais presents Movie in the Park this Friday, July 23rd at Goselin Park located behind the Bourbonnais Municipal Center at 700 Main Street NW. Trolls World Tour will be the feature film beginning around 8 p.m. or dusk. Attendees are reminded to bring blankets or lawn chairs for viewing. The free outdoor event is sponsored in part by Aqua Illinois, AMITA Health St. Mary’s Hospital, Chicago Dough, ComEd, Fieldstone Credit Union and Gas N Wash Bourbonnais.

Swearing in at Monday's board meeting

Bourbonnais, IL — Monday, June 21, 2021, Bourbonnais Police Chief, Jim Phelps, will promote both Brent Barrie and Jason Sztuba at the Village of Bourbonnais Board Meeting. The Village Board meets on the first and third Mondays each month at 5:30 p.m. within the Bourbonnais Municipal Center at 700 Main Street NW. The public is welcome to attend.

Notice for temporary event closures

Bourbonnais, IL – The Bourbonnais Friendship Festival will take place on the Bourbonnais Municipal Center grounds Wednesday, June 23 through Sunday, June 27. In preparation for the five-day event, the Event and Skate Plaza is currently closed, and skate equipment will be returned following the festival’s completion.

Design contest welcomes partnership and engagement

Bourbonnais, IL – The United Way of Kankakee & Iroquois Counties will end its 21-week Equity Challenge with the unveiling of a community-led mural. As a result of the current 270-participant challenge, 120 reside in Bourbonnais where the community equity mural will be born - bringing Bourbonnais its first outdoor mural. United Way is pleased to partner with the Village of Bourbonnais on the community engagement project and encourages public participation. Beginning with the launch of the Community Equity Mural Design Contest, artists are invited to submit original artwork for the equity mural through June 11th.

Memorial Day safety program begins

Bourbonnais, IL — Beginning May 14 through Memorial Day weekend, the Bourbonnais Police Department is increasing enforcement to remind motorists to “Click It or Ticket.”
