Garbage/Recycle/Yard Waste

republic garbage truck during trash pickup with residentThe Village of Bourbonnais has contracted with Allied Waste, a Republic Services Company, to collect household garbage, recyclable materials and yard waste from all single-family residences within the Village. For your convenience, households will be provided one monthly bill from the Village of Bourbonnais inclusive of this service as well as the provided sewer service.

All household garbage is to be placed out for pick-up each week by 6:30 a.m. on your regular pick-up day or set out the night before. Household trash should be placed inside the toter(s) provided by Allied Waste, a Republic Services Company. If you are ever in need of a large dumpster or you feel you need a smaller toter, please contact Allied's Customer Service Department at 815-472-3332.

The Village of Bourbonnais is proud to be a recycling community. 96-gallon toters marked for recycling only are available for each home via Allied Waste, a Republic Services Company. The toters are on wheels and have lids, which further keep the Village clean by reducing animal, insect and litter problems. Recycling services are provided to residents every other week.

The seasonal yard waste program is a weekly service provided by Allied Waste, a Republic Services Company, from approximiately April 1st through November 30th on your regular garbage pick-up day. Guidelines mentioned below must be followed for removal.

How to Dispose of Yard Waste Video

Yard Waste vs. Brush?

There are three ways to dispose of your yard waste:

  1. Place all waste in 30-gallon brown paper yard waste bags. No stickers are required. Yard waste bags can be found at local hardware and grocery stores.
  2. Apply a "Yard Waste" sticker to your own 35-gallon container. If you need additional yard waste stickers, please contact Allied Waste’s Customer Service Department at 815-472-3332 or email them at This email address is being protected from spambots.   3. Rent a 96-gallon yard waste container from Allied Waste for an annual fee by contacting the customer service department at 815-472-3332.

PLEASE NOTE: Tree branches in excess of two inches in diameter will not be removed. Tree branches must be bundled in a maximum 2 feet in diameter and 4 feet in length and should weigh no more than 40 lbs. If you need brush pick-up, you can find more information on the Public Works page.

Bulk waste pickup is limited to one item per household per week and must be arranged with Allied Waste, a Republic Services company, prior to placing the item roadside. The bulk item will not be picked up with your regular weekly garbage removal service.

The Village of Bourbonnais has partnered with Kankakee County and Belson Steel Center Scrap, the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, KRMA, the City of Kankakee, and the Villages of Aroma Park, Bradley, Hopkins Park, Grant Park, Manteno, St. Anne, and Sun River Terrace to offer free e-waste recycling to our residents. All county residents residing outside of any municipal corporate limits or those within the above list of muncipalities qualify for FREE approved e-waste disposal.
