Village gives green light for new grocery development

Bourbonnais, IL – The Village of Bourbonnais confirms a building permit was issued to Aldi Inc. on Friday, February 28, 2020. They are expected to break ground on their new location at 798 Main St. NW (IL Route 102) in Bourbonnais. The national grocery chain has been in communication with the village over the past twelve months on a Bourbonnais location. According to Aldi officials, construction on the 21,606 square foot store is projected to be completed in mid-August 2020, with an additional two weeks to fully stock the store.

“We are looking forward to this new development,” stated Mayor Paul Schore. “Although the recent I-57 Bourbonnais Parkway interchange has made many headlines as of late, we haven’t lost focus on inner Bourbonnais. It remains important to us to continue to keep all areas of Bourbonnais thriving. We are pleased with the recent development interest around this location.”

Hospice of Kankakee River Valley recently revived a former church at the corner of Main St. NW and Career Center Road for their new Community Grief Center – the only one of its kind in the state of Illinois. Stifel Investment Services also breathed new life into a previous church next door on Main St. NW in 2019.

According to their website, Aldi is headquartered in Batavia, Illinois. It has more than 1,900 stores across 36 states and employs over 25,000 people. Additional grocery retailers within the Village of Bourbonnais include Jewel-Osco and Kroger.
