Road closures and event details announced
The Village of Bourbonnais is proud to welcome back the Bourbonnais Friendship Festival, celebrating its 50th anniversary Wednesday, June 25 through Sunday, June 29 at The Grove at Goselin Park – 700 Main St. NW. This year’s milestone event coincides with the Village’s Sesquicentennial, commemorating 150 years of Bourbonnais. The festival itself originated from the Village's Centennial celebration.
In preparation for this five-day community tradition, the following temporary road closures will be in effect:
- Beginning Sunday, June 22:
- William R. Latham Sr. Drive will be closed from Main Street NW (IL Route 102) to Plum Creek Drive.
- Plum Creek Drive will be closed from William R. Latham Sr. Drive to Briarcliff Lane.
- Both roads will reopen by Monday, June 30.
- Friday, June 27 (Children’s Parade):
- Main Street NW (IL Route 102) will be closed from Marsile Street to William R. Latham Sr. Drive
- Closure will be in effect from approximately 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
- Sunday, June 29 (Grand Parade):
- University Avenue from Ward Field to S. Main Street (US Route 45/52) will be closed.
- S. Main Street will be closed from University Avenue northbound to Main Street NW (IL Route 102).
- Main Street NW (IL Route 102) will also be closed from S. Main Street to William R. Latham Sr. Drive.
- Closures will take place from approximately 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- Note: This year’s Grand Parade will follow a new route due to ongoing construction at Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School.
The Bourbonnais Friendship Festival offers fun for all ages, including carnival rides, food vendors, live entertainment, a 5K run/walk, fishing derby, fireworks and the Bourbonnais Fire Protection District’s annual fish fry fundraiser.
