Donations accepted for Special Olympics Illinois athletes
Bourbonnais, IL — Bourbonnais Police kick off their 2026 Special Olympics Illinois fundraising efforts with the Law Enforcement Torch Run Polar Plunge. Saturday, March 7, beginning at 2 p.m., officers will take an icy dip into the lake at Manteno Sportsman’s Club at 851 North Main Street.
In-person donations can be made at the Bourbonnais Police Station at 700 Main St. NW Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Online donations can be made to the ‘Brrrbonnais’ Police team by clicking here.
This ‘cool’ cause benefits over 21,000 Special Olympics Illinois athletes with intellectual disabilities and 9,000 Young Athletes across the state, according to the Special Olympics Illinois website.
‘Brrrbonnais Police’ set a Polar Plunge fundraising goal of $6,000 for 2026. Their 2025 support raised over $3,500 for this event and collectively raised $15,806 for all Special Olympics Illinois events last year, placing the department at the gold level for fundraising.
“We’re excited to return to the Manteno Sportsman’s Club this year and plunge with Mayor Keast on the team,” explained Deputy Chief of Police, Jason Sztuba.
“Our team is still trying to reach our goal, and we are a little over halfway there. We appreciate the community’s continued support of Special Olympics Illinois and invite all to spectate this Saturday.”
The Bourbonnais Police Department is an avid supporter of Special Olympics Illinois participating in various fundraising events throughout the year including Dunkin’ Cop on a Rooftop, Texas Roadhouse Tip a Cop and the Illinois Law Enforcement Torch Run intrastate relay.
