Finance Department

The Finance Department is the fiscal collection and control agency of the Village.  The Department establishes and maintains effective accounting and internal control systems and continually enhances the Village's financial management and reporting systems.   The goal of the Finance Department is to allocate resources in an efficient and responsible manner, in order to provide services to the citizens of Bourbonnais. The Finance Department is responsible for administering the Village's financial plan as well as developing and implementing the financial policies of the Village. 


The Finance Director works closely with the Village Administrator in the planning and production of the annual budget. Finance also reconciles the general ledger, bank accounts, accounts receivable, property tax revenue, and other revenues and expenditures. This department is responsible for financial forecast of cash, revenue and expenditures and the composition of financial policies and procedures.  

The Village of Bourbonnais has established six operating and proprietary fund budgets to regulate spending including General Fund, Special Tax Allocation Fund, Motor Fuels Tax, Sewer Operating Fund, Sewer Depreciation Fund, and the Revolving Loan fund.  

The fiscal year for the Village of Bourbonnais extends from May 1 through April 30th. In early February of each year, efforts begin for the preparation of a new budget. It is the policy of the Village to have adopted by May 1 of each year a new budget to regulate spending throughout the fiscal year.  Copies of the current budgets are available for review at the Village Hall.

In accordance with P.A. 97-0609, total compensation for all Village employees for the fiscal calendar year is available for inspection at the Bourbonnais Administration Building located at 600 Main St N.W., Bourbonnais, IL 60914.

Appropriation Ordinance

By law, the Village is required to adopt and file with the County an Appropriation Ordinance.  This document sets the maximum amount of funds that may be expended by the Village during the fiscal year.

A copy of the current Appropriation Ordinance is available for review at the Village Hall.
