Event and Skate Park Plaza
In October 2016, a new Skate Park and Event Plaza was unveiled behind the Village of Bourbonnais Administrative Office and the Municipal Center. Largely due to the efforts of Patrolman Travis Garcia of the Bourbonnais Police Department, who was tired of seeing kids getting into trouble for skating in non-designated areas, the park now serves as a gathering place for the town's youth.
During the warmer months of the year, skating elements are added to the plaza (video).
The park was also designed to be flooded in the Winter and become an ice-skating rink (video).
Along with the Village and the Park District, the Bourbonnais Friendship Festival also contributed to the cost of constructing the park, and uses the space as the Festival's Beer Tent.
