Under the direction of Building Commissioner Gary Preston, the Bourbonnais Building Department is responsible for overseeing all construction and development activity in the Village of Bourbonnais. The Building Department consists of the following individuals:
Building codes are reviewed annually to ensure the most up to date codes are enforced. Many building codes are revised every three years to reflect changes in material design, composition, and construction techniques. The Village has adopted the following Codes:
Do I need a Permit? Most construction activities require
a permit. For your own protection, and best interest, it is always wise
to check with the building department before beginning any construction,
alterations or repair work. Failure to obtain a building permit could
result in a fine or an order to stop work.
Do I need to call for Inspections? What are the office hours? The building department is open Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. After hours, an answering machine will take your message, and a representative of the department will get back to you. Are there starting and stopping times for construction? Yes.
